「數字」句型整理(1)

這是版主多年來整理的「數字」句型,主要用於英文寫作。許多人尚未打好基礎之前,就巴望著要能說寫流利的英文,老實說這是天方夜談。要用寫出好文章,先要大量閱讀文章,有入才能有出,入不敷出,在現實生活就是破產,在英語學習上就是說一口破英文或寫一手爛文章。版主會不斷上傳英文句型,有心的網友無需曠日費時去搜羅,苦工就由版主來代勞。

1. The U.S. trade deficit narrowed (貿易逆差縮小) in December for a third straight month (連續第三個月) as a slowing U.S. economy reduced demand for imported automobiles and consumer goods, government statistics showed today.

2. The $33 billion trade gap (貿易差額) in goods and services in December was the smallest since August.

3. Deficit began narrowing in October as the U.S. economy cooled (經濟趨緩) and export demand also eased.

4. The last time the gap narrowed for three straight months (連續三個月) was July-October 2003.

11. Federal Reserve policy makers cut interest rates (調降利率) in January in an effort to keep the record expansion on track (穩定有史以來最強的經濟擴張). Those actions last month brought the overnight bank lending rate (隔夜拆款利率) down 1 percentage point to 5.5 percent. (調降百分之ㄧ,成為百分之 5.5 )

12. Today’s trade data showed imports of natural gas more than doubled (翻兩番), rising 117 percent, in December.

13. Higher prices for natural gas used to heat homes as well as for cigarettes and electricity pushed the consumer price index (消費者物價指數) up 0.6 percent, the largest increase since March 2000.

14. Analysts had expected a December trade deficit of $32.2 billion, down from an initial November estimate of a $33 billion gap. In September, the trade deficit widened to a monthly record of $40 billion.

15. Consumer spending that propelled economic growth to a 5.9 percent annual rate (讓年度經濟成長率上衝到百分之5.9 ) in the first half of the year led to record shipments of goods from Asia in 2000. Exports lagged as the dollar rose 5 percent against a basket of currencies.

The overall trade deficit has grown each year of his presidency and is on track to exceed last year’s total of $105 billion.

30. The rise in the overall deficit was driven in part by surging oil prices, which pushed up the value of imports, and by a strong dollar and weak economic growth among a number of major trading partners, which held down demand for American goods and services abroad.
