To All E-mail Users:

Spam or unwanted emails are a constant battle for Aglex e-mail systems.  Although Aglex blocks approximately 500  million spam e-mails per week, some spam will still get to your Outlook email client.  Here are some reminders on how to handle spam and e-mail messages our anti-spam system might generate in response to spam.

1.  Never respond to a spam message.  This include clicking on a “Remove Me” link in the spam message
The spammers are just trying to validate your email is working.  Sending them an email or clicking their links tells them your email address is valid, and they can sell this information for more money or send more spam to your account.

2.  Do NOT use your Aglex e-mail address when filling out non-business information.  Examples could be purchasing something on the Internet, signing up for an e-mail distribution lists, automatic newsletters, etc.  Use a personal e-mail account for non-business transactions.

Remember, many retailers sell or distribute your e-mail information for added profit.

3.  Please do NOT click on any web links within an e-mail unless you understand where the link will take you and want to go there.  These links can be written so what is displayed in the e-mail is not where you will end up if you click on it.

Clicking on these links could take you to an infected web site that could try and load a virus or spyware on your computer.

4.  If you get a message from our anti-spam servers, do NOT reply to it.

In the process of dealing with spam and notifying external systems, our anti-spam engines could possibly send you an email stating there is a delay in sending one of your emails.  Do not reply to this email.

5.  Remember to look for distribution lists in the “To…” or “Cc…” fields of ALL emails you are replying to BEFORE you send an email.  Some of our distribution lists have thousands of people in them.  Do all these people really need to see your reply?

You can create a heavy load on our e-mail infrastructure if you do a “reply all” to an email with large distribution listsPlease be careful when replying to e-mails and verify all the recipients really need the information you are sending.

◎ Spam or unwanted emails are a constant battle for …

“Spam”
spam = advertising material sent by e-mail to people who have not asked for it (非索要的) 電郵廣告

block spam emails = filter spam emails = prevents spam emails from getting to your email account

◎ Here are some reminders on how to = 下面是一些提醒事項,你可以照著來做….

◎ Never respond to a spam message.  This include clicking on a “Remove Me” link in the spam message.

◎ Examples could be..
eg.  It could rain later this evening. (less definite possibility)

eg. War could break out any day. (less definite possibility)

◎ where the link will take you…= 按下連結後你會被帶到哪裡去

◎ These links can be written so what is displayed in the e-mail is not where you will end up if you click on it.

◎ Clicking on these links could take you to an infected web site that could try and load a virus or spyware on your computer.

◎ could possibly…

◎ Remember to look for distribution lists in the “To…” or “Cc…” fields

◎ create a heavy load on our e-mail infrastructure = 對我們的電子郵件系統增加很重的負擔

◎ an email with large distribution lists = 內含許多收件人的電子郵件

◎ Please be careful when replying to e-mails and verify all the recipients really need the information you are sending.
